Ko-fi donation alerts that actually do something in OBS
Ko-fi already emails you when someone tips. This makes the tip land on stream instead — as a reaction on your model, a thrown tomato, or time added to your subathon.
How it works
Ko-fi can send every donation to a webhook. Vplank gives you a personal webhook URL, receives the donation server-side, and passes it to whichever overlay you have running in OBS.
Because it is server-side, a donation that arrives while your PC is rebooting is not lost — the overlay picks it up when it comes back.
Set it up
- Get your webhook URLDashboard → Connections → Ko-fi. Copy the URL shown there; it is unique to your account and works as its own key.
- Paste it into Ko-fiKo-fi → More → Webhooks (or ko-fi.com/manage/webhooks) → paste the URL and save.
- Choose what a donation triggersReaction tiers on your VTube Studio model, objects thrown at your avatar, or a subathon countdown that extends per tip.
- Add the overlay to OBSCopy the overlay URL into an OBS browser source and place it over your model.
- Test itKo-fi's webhook page has a test button, and the Vplank dashboard has one too. Either fires the whole chain.
Questions
Do I need Ko-fi Gold?
No. Webhooks are available on a normal free Ko-fi account.
Does the money go through Vplank?
Never. Ko-fi pays you directly. Vplank only receives the notification that a donation happened.
What about shop orders and memberships?
Any Ko-fi event that carries an amount can drive a reaction; the amount decides which tier fires.
Is there a delay?
Ko-fi posts the webhook immediately and the overlay reacts within a second or two.
