YouTube Jewels that do something on stream
Jewels are YouTube's newer tipping currency, and most overlays still ignore them. In Vplank, Throw Stuff prices objects in Jewels, and every other tool can fire its lowest tier on a Jewel gift.
How it works
Jewels reach Vplank through a connected Streamlabs account — Streamlabs relays the Jewel gift, and Vplank reads the jewel amount as its own currency rather than pretending it is dollars.
That matters when you set your prices: a Jewel tier is set in Jewels, so you are not converting in your head. Throw Stuff keeps a separate list of objects for Jewels for exactly this reason.
Set it up
- Connect StreamlabsDashboard → Connections → Streamlabs → Connect Streamlabs, or paste your socket API token there instead. This is the path Jewels arrive on.
- Turn on the Jewels sourceIn Throw Stuff, enable Jewels. You get a second list of objects priced in Jewels, separate from your money tiers.
- Price your Jewel tiersSmall gifts throw something light, big gifts throw the heavy stuff. Free accounts get three Jewel slots.
- Add the overlay to OBSCopy the overlay URL into an OBS browser source above your model.
- Go live and watch one landThe first real Jewel gift will fire the tier you priced for it.
Questions
What are YouTube Jewels?
A tipping currency inside YouTube live chat. Viewers buy Jewels and send them during a stream, similar to Super Chat but as a gift.
Do Jewels get converted to dollars?
Not by Vplank: there is no fixed exchange rate. Throw Stuff prices its Jewel objects in Jewels. Every other tool fires its lowest tier for a Jewel gift, and you can set the smallest gift, in jewels, that may do so.
Which Vplank tools support Jewels?
Throw Stuff has its own Jewel price list. The Reaction Menu and the Pro effects fire their lowest tier for a Jewel gift: tick YouTube Jewels in that tool's "What activates this tool" box and set the minimum there.
Do I need YouTube Partner status?
Jewels are a YouTube feature with its own eligibility rules — that part is between you and YouTube. Vplank reacts to whatever arrives.
